Project goal
The goal was to design a web-based platform that empowers users to personalize premium clothing in a way that feels effortless, creative, and intuitive — no matter the device they're using. We set out to create an experience where high-end fashion meets individual expression, without the barriers of logins, templates, or complicated interfaces. Whether on mobile or desktop, the entire customization process had to feel smooth, focused, and user-friendly — allowing anyone to turn iconic pieces into personal statements.
Challenges
Making customization intuitive on mobile
Designing for mobile devices came with a major challenge: delivering a feature-rich customization tool without overwhelming the user. On smaller screens, every pixel counts — and balancing advanced editing tools with a smooth, focused experience required multiple iterations. The goal was to preserve the same sense of control and creativity users would have on desktop, while making interactions feel effortless on mobile.
Too many tools, too little space
The number of available customization tools — cutting, painting, stitching, distressing, burning — presented a UI challenge. Having all tools visible at once cluttered the screen and distracted from the product itself. I needed to find a way to make tools easily accessible without compromising the visual clarity or hierarchy of the interface. The final approach focused on contextual visibility and minimalistic controls, keeping the user’s attention on the product, not the UI.
Designing without user patterns to follow
Unlike e-commerce platforms or standard design tools, there were no clear design conventions for this kind of fashion customizer. The experience needed to feel familiar enough to be intuitive, but innovative enough to support unique interactions — like dragging a burn tool across a Gucci jacket. With no direct benchmarks, I had to rely on rapid prototyping, testing, and trusting design instincts to shape a UX that feels both fresh and functional.
Approach
Mobile-first, but desktop-deep
From the beginning, I approached the design with a mobile-first mindset, knowing that many users would discover the platform on their phones. This meant rethinking how interactions like dragging, zooming, and switching tools would work in a touch environment. At the same time, I ensured that the desktop experience retained depth and precision, giving advanced users the space to fully explore their creative ideas.
Letting the product lead the interface
To solve the issue of tool overload, I designed an interface that adapts to the user’s context — showing only the tools and options that make sense in the moment. Instead of displaying everything at once, tools are revealed through intuitive gestures and smart grouping. This keeps the canvas clean and lets the garment take visual priority, making the user feel more like a creator than a technician.
Prototyping without fear
Without a direct reference point for how such a tool should look or behave, the only way forward was through constant exploration. I built quick prototypes to test ideas fast — from layout experiments to tool behavior — learning from what felt natural and cutting what didn’t. This flexible, curiosity-driven approach helped shape a product that feels uniquely intuitive, even in unfamiliar territory.
User stories
Jacek Bąk, 41
An entrepreneur from Kraków who orders luxury gifts for clients. He’s looking for a fast, effortless way to personalize designer clothing — without needing an account or a complex learning curve.

Emma Nowicka, 29
A creative director from Warsaw who wants to transform a classic Hermès coat into a bold statement piece for her portfolio. She needs precise tools and a distraction-free interface to bring her ideas to life quickly between shoots.

Karolina Kroczka, 21
A first-year fashion design student from Łódź who loves to experiment. She treats the customizer as her digital sketchbook, exploring colors and textures on premium garments without limitations.
User Flow
To map out the overall journey, I created a simplified user flow showing how individuals interact with the platform — from selecting a premium garment to completing a purchase. The diagram highlights a seamless process that requires no account, emphasizes creativity, and ensures every step feels intuitive across all devices.
Web architecture
The structure of the platform was designed to keep the experience focused and user-driven. With just a few core pages — including product selection, the customizer, and checkout — the architecture supports quick navigation while minimizing cognitive load. Every path was streamlined to guide users from inspiration to personalization without unnecessary friction.

UI Kit
o ensure visual consistency and speed up design decisions, I created a compact UI kit including key components like buttons, icons, color and typography styles. The typeface was carefully chosen to reflect the premium character of the brands, while keeping readability across devices.

Design minimalistic, but functionality
The interface was intentionally kept minimal to reflect the elegance of the brands and avoid overwhelming the user. Despite the clean look, every visual element serves a purpose — from intuitive iconography to contextual toolbars that appear only when needed. This balance between visual simplicity and functional depth allows users to focus entirely on their creative process.

Choose your item
The journey begins with a curated selection of premium garments from high-end fashion brands. Each product is presented in a clean, gallery-style layout that emphasizes quality and detail. The goal was to make choosing a piece feel intentional and inspiring — more like browsing a boutique than a catalog.
Start creating something unique, 1 of 1
Once a piece is selected, the user enters a dedicated customization space where creativity takes over. The interface supports free expression through tools like cutting, painting, distressing, stitching, and burning — each action leaving a personal mark. No templates, no presets — every creation is a one-of-one, shaped entirely by the user’s imagination.

Even on your phone
The entire experience was designed to feel just as intuitive and powerful on mobile as it does on desktop. Interactions were optimized for touch — with accessible tool placement, responsive gestures, and a clutter-free layout. Whether customizing on the go or from the couch, users have full creative control in the palm of their hand.
Save your project for later or add it to cart
After customizing, users can either save their design locally to revisit later or proceed straight to checkout — no account required. This flexible flow supports both spontaneous creativity and more deliberate, iterative work. The goal was to let users decide their own pace without interrupting the creative momentum.
